Biography

George Kounadis, born in Kifissia in 1959, settled in Hydra in 1978 and founded his first business, the cafe "Laiko". From '83 to '93 he successfully ran the art café 'Up and High', which showcased talented artists from around the world. During this period, Hydra flourished as a hub of artistic creation, attracting established artists and aspiring students from the island's School of Fine Arts. In addition to his business endeavors, Kounadis began to follow his own artistic passion. In '86, Kounadis presented his works for the first time. Over the past three decades, he has ventured across continents and founded 13 businesses in Australia, all following the same concept. He has been instrumental in organizing and co-curating numerous exhibitions, introducing talented artists such as Alex Seton, Will Coles, Gosh Grab and Vassilis Vassiliadis to the world. Meanwhile, Kounadis has devoted himself to continuous painting. He has exhibited his work in 7 solo exhibitions both in Australia and Greece. Recently, his interest is solely in his artistic pursuits.
