Biography

Yiannis Papanelopoulos was born in Athens. From 1954 to 1957 he studied at A.S.K.T. near Yiannis Moralis and Yiannis Kefallinos and later (1960-1963) at the Free School of Fine Arts (Vakalos School), with professor Panagiotis Tetsis. He organized his first solo exhibition in Athens in 1975. Since 1969, however, he has participated in group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Within the context of new realism, expressionist writing prevails in his work, in which man and his environment dominate. He lives and works in Athens.
