Biography

Costas Varotsos is a renowned greek sculptor. Born in Athens in 1955, he studied in Italy both arts and architecture in the Art Academy of Rome and at the University of Pescara. Redefining the boundaries between art and the environment, he reinvented the way to work with glass with his monumental sculptures. His art demonstrates his unique ability to play with light and minimalist structures, reinventing public spaces by giving them the magic of seemingly floating and grandiose sculptures. Worldly acclaimed, his work has become an emblem for many cities such as the "Poet" in Nicosia or "the runner" in Athens. His sculptures in the public spaces create a strong bond between people and art, nature and art and possible and impossible.
