Alexandros Papakonstantinou was born in Nea Faliro, Piraeus, in 1952. He studied painting and the history of art in Athens and Rome. He studied for five years under Diamantis Diamantopoulos, being the only student of this great Greek painter. His work has been written about by Chrysanthos Christou, Professor of Art History and Academician, Dora Iliopoulou-Rogan, PhD in Art History and Art Critic, Athena Schina, Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Art Critic, Alan Andrew Maran, English Academician and PhD in Art History from Sheffield University, Eleni Kaplaní-Kokkínis, Art Historian, Héra Papapostolou, Art Historian and Critic, and Yiannis Kolokotronis, Professor of History and Theory of Western Art at the Department of Architecture, Democritus University of Thrace.He has held solo exhibitions in significant art spaces in Greece and abroad, including Rome, Milan, and Cairo. He has participated in more than 120 group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. He has exhibited alongside significant artists such as Moralis, Tsarouchis, Lappas, Angelos, Paschalis, Skoulakis, Samios, Charos, Manousakis, and others.His works are in the collection of the Municipal Gallery of Athens, the Marika Kotopouli Museum, the Municipal Gallery of Thessaloniki, the Municipal Gallery of Patras, the "Alekos Kontopoulos" Gallery in Lamia, the Cyclades Gallery, the collections of the Commercial Bank, the General Bank, the Town Hall of Delphi, and in significant private collections in Greece and abroad.Since 2000, he has been living and working in the municipality of Marathon.
